Virtue signalling substitutes applause for action. By turning conviction into costume, it cheapens the cause, alienates the unconvinced, and leaves the real work to those too busy doing it to pose for the cameras.
I was a reporter. People and places have 1A rights too that includes to tell a reporter no to an interview, no to access, no to calling on them at a press conference. Freedom of the press means freedom to publish, not freedom to access or to force others to let you in or to make you talk to them.

The nominee for Surgeon General came before the Senate and told senators that cardiovascular disease remains America's number-one killer and that preventing chronic disease should be a central public-health priority.
The committee then spent the vast majority of its time interrogating her about MMR, autism, and the hepatitis B birth dose than it spent questioning her about cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, obesity, and sepsis combined.
Senator Cassidy spent his entire time questioning her on vaccines.
So what actually kills people in the USA, the Senate has no interest in discussing with the SG nominee. Fascinating.
