Justice Project Pakistan, in collaboration with @nchrofficial and with the support of the @EUPakistan, launched the Pakistan Prison Data Report 2026 and three prison reform action tools in Islamabad.
The report shows that Pakistan’s prisons now hold 110,513 people in facilities designed for approximately 68,832, with the system operating at 160.6% of authorised capacity. It also shows that 82,988 people, or 75.09% of the national prison population, are under trial, making excessive under-trial detention the largest single driver of pressure on prisons.
Launched alongside the report, the Gap Analysis of Provincial Prison Rules, Policy Brief on Reducing Prison Overcrowding, and Detention Monitoring Toolkit translate this evidence into practical reform.
The event brought together government representatives, prison authorities, human rights institutions, development partners, legal experts, civil society and the media for high-level discussions on overcrowding, overincarceration of under-trial prisoners, and women and children in detention, moderated by senior journalist and news anchor @AbsaKomal.
From evidence to implementation, the task now is to reduce unnecessary imprisonment, strengthen oversight and protect the rights and dignity of persons deprived of liberty.

An all-male, executive-appointed FCC is dismantling legal protections for women’s rights, most recently by restricting the scope of workplace harassment law.
The destructive consequences of the 26th and 27th Amendments continue. Once judicial independence is destroyed, no fundamental right is insulated from the consequences.

Interesting way for ISPR to counter this fake news by bringing on camera the man @ANI claimed was dead. Sections of Indian media need to stop making a mockery of themselves. It hurts journalism everywhere.

Junaid Hafeez is innocent!
Does anyone care?
The trial court which convicted Junaid under religious pressure after a prolonged trial spanning 6 years, didn't care.
The Lahore High Court which has lingered Junaid's Appeal for 7 years doesn't seem to care.
But we, the conscientious citizens do care! We implore the Lahore High Court to remember it's constitutional duty of ensuring "expeditious justice" tomorrow on 22nd September 2026 when it hears Junaid's Appeal.
We demand that the Appeal is heard and decided on merits without any further delays. We demand justice. We demand accountability for the 13 years lost of a young Fulbright Scholar under fabricated blasphemy charges.

They actually took them from inside Adiala because we had not yet gone to get them released as paper work was not complete! Once again totally illegal to take somebody from inside the jail in this manner but then there has never been due process observed for Imaan and Hadi.
Law means nothing anymore!
Instead of being released, Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha have been arrested again by Islamabad Police from Adiala Jail.
Supreme Court has suspended the sentences of human rights lawyers @ImaanZHazir and Hadi Ali Chattha and ordered their immediate release. What wonderful news!

An investigation that protects the real perpetrators is a facade and fakery.
This petition is our resolve AND a warning to those siding with the criminals: if you do not side with the truth, and do not let us dream of justice, we will not let you sleep.

We have attempted to let the investigators do their job and been consistent about this position.
HOWEVER, there are serious inconsistencies.
All we have asked for is a PROPER INVESTIGATION.
Attached is the letter to the NCHR.
