This is what the ballot paper will look like. The 36th Amendment Bill would (i) remove Art 40.3.3 (8th Amendment) & (ii) insert 'Provision may be made by law for regulation of termination of pregnancy'. Tá = repeal/change Níl = retain/no change #8thref @loveboth8 @Together4yes

The argument that the proposed legislation is virtually identical to the UK legislation persists, but it is not true. The image attached is a chart comparing the grounds & timelines in both. A fuller analysis is here: aboutthe8th.com/2018/04/06/w… #8thref @Savethe8thInfo @Together4yes
The case referenced - Lavinia Doyle and Luca Chussi v. HSE settled. It concerned the interpretation of the Civil Liability Act. There was no judgment, and so we cannot comment on that argument in detail.

Today on our facebook page we will be comparing current Irish abortion law and the government's proposals using illustrative stories from @InHerIrishShoes facebook.com/aboutthe8th/
You can now find an Irish sign language version of our information booklet, coproduced with @Lawyers4Choice, here m.facebook.com/story.php?sto… Thank you to the Deaf Community Together for Yes for doing this. #Together4Yes #8thref @Together4yes @Savethe8thInfo
As usual we are not live tweeting #twip but there were debates between @SenatorMcDowell and @RonanMullen and then @AnneRabbitte and @ReginaDo; here is a law-check on law-related claims made. [Thread]

Deputy Rabbitte argued the hard cases of rape and FFA could be dealt with by legislators if there is a no vote. This is not correct. They can only be dealt with if the 8th is repealed or amended. Either will require a referendum. They cannot be addressed under the current law.

Doherty used Poland to argue rape grounds w/o a protected period do not work as abortion largely remains inaccessible in practice. True across comparators. European Ct of HR has found the inaccessibility of abortion in practice, in spite of the law, violates ECHR (P & S v Poland)
