There is an increasingly disingenuous narrative peddled in Scotland about the impacts of granting new oil and gas licenses on North Sea production levels and job security. Amid this, it’s important to look at evidence 🧵

This is what billionaire ownership of the media means:
Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta shut down the No Kings account for hours during the height of their protests.
Meta suppressed accounts supporting Brazil President Lula da Silva in the recent election.
Larry Ellison’s TikTok blocked advertising for a documentary criticizing Elon Musk.
Fight back. Defeat oligarchy. Preserve democracy.

In an interview in this article for The @guardian about AI deception, I explain why misaligned behaviors emerge from reinforcement learning, why they will continue to pose risks as models become more capable, and how we intend to rethink how we train AI systems at @LawZero_ .

First successful proof of concept of a self-replicating AI virus, based on an open-source LLM from 2025 (!). Link to the paper in comment.
The authors write: “We must prepare for autonomous generative adversaries, [...] Artificial intelligence (AI) agents enable a fundamentally new threat: a worm that generates tailored attack strategies to each target it encounters. The worm parasitically uses compromised machines to run open-weight large language models (LLMs) to sustain its reasoning, or extend its reach for further attacks”.
Enjoy the internet while it still works (and, you know, other trivial modern conveniences such as your bank account).
Or maybe do something about it and support @PauseAI 🙏
this is now live, and wow some big names on this call for the US to "pace" AI development.
The letter is not calling for a pause or slowdown in AI development, but says that "the world should have the option."
NEW: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind staff are circulating a letter asking the US government to support a mechanism that could help “deliberately pace” AI development if needed, bc of risks of the technology becoming out of control

Can we make a new law that if any politician calls a press conference, they actually start it on time
Tomorrow my friend @larabirdsnp is standing as the SNP candidate in Arbroath and Broughty Ferry. I ask that you please vote for her.
She is the sole reason why Parliament had a vote on a ceasefire in Gaza in November 2023, drafting the wording and breaking Westminster.
She is an exceptionally talented and smart young woman who will work to put the people of Arborth and Broughty Ferry, and Scotland first.
Please bring your voter ID and #VoteLaraBird #VoteSNP
Keir's answer to the Greens and Reform is Europe, Steel and plans for young people he has already announced. Where is the third phase reset?
This would be absolutely huge, unheard of news if it comes to pass
NASA is one of the best inventions humans ever made, instead of funding wars we should be funding science and space exploration

🚨 Er... this seems important, just casually loaded on .gov.
The government is going to remove a layer of public transparency by stopping consultations with the public.
It will ask Ai to help determine what public consultations are unnecessary (Will those be defined as consultations the government knows wont give them the answers it wants) How will we ever know?
And how will they know if we agree or not? they won’t and that’s the point.
Wow, Shocking 💣
