I’ve actually been there—and yes, it’s just as impressive in person. A giant underground battery hidden inside a mountain is hard to beat.
Hidden inside Raccoon Mountain is a power plant you definitely wouldn’t expect. 👀⚡
When energy demand rises, water from a mountaintop reservoir rushes through a 1,000-foot tunnel to spin massive generators deep underground—producing 1,700 megawatts of electricity. 💡
Even cooler? The whole system works like a giant battery, storing energy by pumping water uphill and releasing it when it’s needed most!
I didn't really dress in a lab coat, but I did enjoy seeing the @AMPERAnuclear mock-ups and hearing from its leaders today.
Think Chernobyl is history?
It’s an active nuclear site, a massive cleanup project, and now a wartime target.
