Construction work on new fields at our main campus behind IHS and Dake Jr. HS, started in early June and the end product will be a new, multi-use athletic complex featuring turf baseball and softball diamonds and a relocated area for track and field throwing events. Check out the drone video shot last week. The other phase of this capital improvement project, which was approved by district voters in December of 2024, is the transformation of the Pinegrove Learning Center, 154 Pinegrove Ave. That is expected to be ready for the 2027-28 school year and will add three Pre-K/UPK classes, as well as other learning spaces. 🎓 The College & Career Center at IHS has a new name — and a new look! Thanks to a grant from the West Irondequoit Foundation, it’s now the Future Ready Center (FRC). A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week to celebrate the newly refreshed space. The welcoming center features new furniture and desks, comfortable seating, modernized media display racks and updated electronics — creating an inviting place for students to explore their futures. FRC Coordinator and IHS Business Teacher LaVon Bucciarelli extended her thanks to everyone who helped bring the project to life, including the West Irondequoit Foundation, represented at the ceremony by WIF Board member and former IHS Principal Dr. Patrick McCue. Mrs. Bucciarelli also thanked our district administrative team for supporting the grant idea, which aligns with the NYS Portrait of a Graduate initiative. Special thanks also go to Sandra Sandford, Assistant to the Superintendent of Finance, for her invaluable design ideas; FRC Clerk Jessy Cook; Minute Man Press for the new FRC sign; and IHS Custodian Joe Barber and his staff for their hard work creating the new space. We’re excited to see how the Future Ready Center will help our students prepare for what comes next! Check out some of the Before & After pictures! @ihscareercenter

🍎⚾CONGRATS! Ryan Swisher, a teacher who has worked in our district since 2013, was one of just five local educators honored by the Rochester Red Wings on the baseball club’s Teacher Appreciation Day on Monday! Teachers were honored for outstanding service to their students, and we know how amazing Mr. Swisher is! Our students hit home runs daily because of him! Mr. Swisher, who is in his ninth year as a Resource and ICT teacher in a self-contained classroom, was nominated by two parents of his students. He and his wife, Stephanie, live in our district with their two children. Congrats, Mr. Swisher!
