Couple things. First, credit card benefits are really different in the US than the UK/EU (OP is German), so that’s playing a role here. Second, people in the US who only use debit cards often seem to not fully grasp their range of benefits beyond just rewards 1/
But more than that, even a credit card with NO rewards offers US customers a huge benefit people sometimes miss: if fraudulent charges are made on it then that’s not YOUR money being stolen (like with a debit card), it’s the bank’s. There’s a valuable layer of protection there 3/
Not sure if it’ll be in the 2026 issue, but look for this new piece from me on disability theology and the atonement in @JournalofAT in due course
Really bizarre situation over at @VanderbiltU, especially given that last academic year the divinity school reported an over $250 million endowment. Was discussing this with colleagues last week and glad to see @RNS reporting on it

I feel like the Atlanta Chick-Fil-As are the only ones that don’t look like they got their staff directly out of a Mormon high school
I have terrible flight anxiety which I have to take medication for to avoid panic attacks. The medicine is good, but it’s also great to have nuns on your flight who will pray for you too 🙏
ADA lawsuit, anyone?
NYC deploys robotoilets. The public bathrooms have a strict 10-minute time limit.

Were there ever any consequences for her supervisor and examiners? They’re ultimately the ones to blame here since their whole job was to vet this research
In the spring I gave my students the opportunity to do their midterm and final as either an oral or written exam. For the midterm they were skeptical and only one did the oral exam. But once that student told the others about it, they ALL did oral exams for the final
Professors who have used oral assessments say it’s important to prepare students for them and to be clear about the benefits of the approach, beyond preventing cheating. Structuring the exams in a way that is fair and productive are also critical to making them effective. chroni.cl/4yv1F4u
Just got one of these where reviewer 2 said that the use of logic problems in disability theology is a “category error”
This is why some people don’t take the field seriously

Today we celebrate the birth of a little girl who would be called to become the Mother of her Creator, the Mother of God. Yet, she is born simply as a little girl, like the daughters and granddaughters we hold in our arms. We bestow upon her the most exalted and noble titles, such as Our Lady and Queen, but God’s way was and remains simpler and quieter, yet no less powerful and transformative. It is the way of Jesus Himself. #NativityOfMary
As always, interesting content from @LondonLyceum. IMO, though, I dunno that Peter Williams as an individual or Tyndale House as an institution (insofar as it is one) are really examples of “elite” individuals or entities
