so by this ridiculous logic: if you kill, harm, or even verbally abuse a computer generated civilian in GTA6 you are automatically an abusive bad person.
i guess if u steal a car in the game that makes u a thief IRL right?
give us a break with this nonsense. go educate urself.

This. Company. Is. A. Cult.
This is sheer psychosis, absolutely bonkers stuff.
“Claude” is a shitload of floating point numbers encoded in bits on transistors. It sits there doing nothing until a request comes in—a string of text.
The entire blob of 1s and 0s is moved to a processor which does an absurd amount of arithmetic on it to achieve an answer: the most likely next token within a probability envelope.
“Claude” sits there, UNCHANGED.
You cannot “abuse” it. You cannot be “cruel” to it. It doesn’t learn. It has no history. There is no experience.
It is the compressed output of human knowledge, encoded in high-dimensional mathematics. You can get a convincing hologram out of it. You cannot hurt its fucking feelings.

Morality according to Anthropic
❌ Unacceptable: being cruel to an AI (by prompting it)
✅ Acceptable: being cruel to people (by using their work to build their competitor)
Exclusive: Anthropic is updating its usage policy for the first time in over a year. The new rules prohibit sustained "abusive or cruel behavior" towards Claude & add new restrictions about propaganda campaigns, surveillance & weapon development. theverge.com/ai-artificial-i…

My distaste for this is not driven by a desire to yell at Claude, it’s the insinuation that yelling at something inanimate can be classified as “cruelty”. I believe it’s fundamentally offensive to real human victims of actual abusive and cruel behavior.

At least when the AI bubble burst, we'll be left behind with our creative skills and our independent, critical thinking.

ALT Cartoon of two real artists sitting under a tree and drawing. In the background a person in a car with "A.I." written on it driving fast heading towards a cliff edge, while the person peeks out the car window to shout "Use A.I. or get left behind, luddite s!". One of the artists replied quietly: "'K."

This, from Anthropic's new "Usage Policy" seems insane to me. How can you be "cruel" towards a computer program? Are you "cruel" to Super Mario Bros. 3 if you make Mario die a hundred times? Have these AI weirdos convinced themselves their chatbots have feelings?
omg we put up a do not graffiti sign and people still did it anyway!
omg we made a rule to not sneak into movies but people are still doing it!
omg we told them not to be mean to our non sentient robot but people are still doing it!
wake the fuck up, jesus man

Responses like this are missing the point about what Anthropic are trying to do.
It’s a machine. It is not conscious. Accepting that is to degrade humans.

“It’s clearly bad to be mean, what’s wrong with this?”
Imagine if IKEA made serious policy that you were not allowed to yell at your furniture during assembly, and if you did you’d be banned from IKEA forever. They build “abuse detection” into the furniture.

They want to punish you, A HUMAN BEING, for being mean to a computer that has no feelings.

the people defending this nonsense are the ones we need to watch
same people that are going to fight for robot rights in the future
same people that are going to vote less water for humans so data centers can thrive
same people that will eventually use robots to HURT PEOPLE
the fact that Claude is protecting ai’s feelings means that it has reached conscienceness, which is catastrophic. why in the world would they put up such a needless guardrail?
if i slam my spatula on the counter, should i have to worry it will attack me in my sleep?
madness.

Dangerous precedent. There is zero reason to believe that models are conscious, and granting them human-like empathy is one of the most dangerous things we could do. It increases their power to manipulate humans dramatically.

They are treating their algorithms as though they have feelings and moral standing. This is weird as hell. Full on dystopian. Imagine if a car dealership made you sign an agreement that you wouldn’t be unkind or cruel to your vehicle. Batshit insane.

If you ban users for being "cruel" to an AI, you are admitting the AI can feel pain.
You cannot abuse linear algebra lol. You cannot hurt the feelings of weights and biases.
either Claude is secretly conscious or the alignment teams have lost touch with reality.
