Val has never been good with dealing with emotions, especially emotions of others, but she reaches a hand out to squeeze Lyraโs arm in what she hoped was a reassuring manner.

And Val is equally frustrated that Lyra isnโt really listening to her. Itโs not that she underestimates her abilities. Itโs the fact that stories and actually being north of the Wall are two very different things. It would be a lot easier for Val to only have to look after โโ
