Today I have written to the head of the UK Football Policing Unit after its disgraceful attempt to link alcohol with the Hillsborough disaster following the Prime Minister’s call to ease restrictions at football matches. Alcohol did not cause Hillsborough. The behaviour of supporters did not cause or contribute to the disaster. These are the authoritative, factual conclusions of the inquests and the independent investigations. They are not matters of opinion. Thirty-seven years on, when will policing authorities finally accept the truth and stop perpetuating the lies and smears created in the aftermath of the disaster? Enough is enough. #JFT97

An inspiring SEND Open Day at Dovecot MAC today, bringing together stakeholders and brilliant organisations from across our city alongside plans for the new SEND Village in West Derby. A huge thank you to the fantastic @AVCT for helping to make it such a positive and productive day, and to everyone who joined us. Wonderful to see so many people working collaboratively for the common good of our children, young people and families. #WestDerby

What a night❤️ Huge credit to @AVCT for working with the Youth Investment Fund to create opportunities in the arts for working class kids from West Derby & across the city. The singing and dancing were performed with real talent and joy. Take a bow, Judy, Phil & all the whole team at @AVCT for creating what I’m certain will be a lasting artistic legacy for the city. And a massive thank-you to the kids who absolutely smashed it out of the park. I was so proud to witness this wonderful community programme tonight.

Today I joined the demo at @MACDovecot to help save this vital community library from closure due to withheld council funding. @liamrobinson24 & the leadership team must meet with @AVCT and fix this. I won’t stand by while political decisions destroy community resources in West Derby. #CommunityLibraries #WestDerby

Huge thank you to Leo from @DL Gardens for an amazing job clearing our allotments. Thanks also @Croxteth Farm @AVCT for your help with a full ton of bark, to farmer Gary and to David, who is working with us on the community allotments. #GrowWestDerby #RightToFood

It’s always a pleasure to meet up with the wonderful team @AVCT Lots of exciting plans for @dovecotmac, including enhancing the services in our West Derby Centre for Social Justice around the needs of the community & the amazing creative workshops nurturing working class talents. I look forward to working with the team for the benefit of all in West Derby.
