Reliability comes from certainty
Why don't I use Managed Runtimes? Once, something randomly broke and it took a while to figure out why. Turns out it was down to some obscure bug in the new version of Node that AWS had upgraded us to. Turned off managed runtimes after that. Why don't I have an agent auto-deploying fixes? Same reason, really. And I prefer to know when a deployment is going out. I might allow auto deploys in the future during my waking hours, but never while I'm asleep. I don't care how good your self-healing swarm is or whatever, I'm running a business that demands high uptime (API service) so I'm just not going to risk any downtime.

Nothing like a quick PHP upgrade before breakfast

Even with all this AI, there are still things I haven’t dealt with that have been unresolved for months 🤦‍♂️

AI coding has completely changed the work. Coding has changed to management and review. Now the issue is how to manage my time and focus. How to keep track of what’s being done and keep my mind focussed where it needs to be

Dear dev. When I really need to use your app to access a device to solve a real problem. I do not want to have to update the app and upgrade the firmware before I can do anything. This is not the time for frustrating user experience

I’m working on dumping @evernote. Doubling my subscription fee for all the AI features you’ve added that I don’t use is not helpful. AI has real costs and most tools don’t need to bake them in. Let me bring my own AI if I need it. Plan without AI might be an option?

And now we normalise email accounts on signup 🤦‍♂️

Budgeting for the small business isn’t about guessing. It’s also not about planning how you’ll spend money you hope you’ll make. It’s about deciding how you’re going to spend the money you have.

AI makes it easier to do everything yourself. You don’t need an external tool, you’ll just build it with AI. You’re not building your business anymore, you’re building the tools. Keep your focus on how you’ll get paid #biztips

Clarimon was born because businesses need a tool that helps them run their business the way they think about their money while keeping all the numbers in a place the accountant can work with them.

Running your test suite on the first of the month is a great time to check for date assumptions

The simple things we know that so many don’t. Just helped someone today to break up the double "s" in their gmail address by using "." johnssmith@ can be john.s.smith@

Gotta love it when AI gives up and says "the tests keep failing because the thing you asked me to do didn’t quite work"

I remember the time when you could keep all HTTP headers, HTML tags, and CSS rules in your head

So true
If it wasn’t for men the Internet would be boring. And so would the ER.

I’m generally pretty allergic to ads. But, when I’m intrigued by one and click a link, and all I get is a sign up page with no information about what the service does…

This is quite fascinating.
