Berrettini must have felt some type of way today to roll back the clock like this.
LVA too underpowered to trouble Tien. Doesn’t have the same level as he did Friday vs Musetti. If Learner can win from a set and break up, sets up an interesting clash vs ADM.
ADM has historically struggled vs Norrie, who has some similarities to Learner
Fery still yet to prove anything since Wimby SF.
Cincy - w v Duckworth (49% pts), L v ADM
Winston Salem - W vs Hewitt, Rottgering, W via retirement v duckworth, L buse
USO - L v Musetti R1
Tokyo - smoked by Faria R1
Shanghai W vs Cilic (fading hard), L v Khach
Lyon- L v Khach
Darderi looked very competent on a quicker indoor HC today. Obviously it helps when Arnaldi couldn’t hit a spot on serve and sprayed like a firehose. Very good performance on 2nds as well (much needed since he served 50%).
Arnaldi breaks himself at 5-5. This kid (man?) has a basement not a floor.
For how electric he can be at his ceiling, that version of Arnaldi rarely shows up
Mensik responds with another 6-2. 1st in dropped from 75% to 68%, but won 5/6 2nd serve points, with the one point dropped being a close miss off a rocket +1 FH
Dominant 1st set from Mensik, as it should be. Would like to see him either maintain the 1st serve in % as it often dips in 2nd sets, but regardless the 2nd serve win % should improve from 40% gs Neumayer
What is Kasatkina doing? She’s been completely unserious for months now. I get she’s fallen off a ton but it legitimately looks like she’s showing up to cash a check more often than not
I wonder if Mensik switched from playing Basel to Vienna due to his Red Bull partnership and their event in Vienna. Would have thought he’d prefer the altitude and quicker conditions in Basel (also a weaker field)
Learner is also a surprise to not play Basel for similar reasons
Musetti wasn’t too far away from a chance to go up double break in the second. Of all people, definitely a guy who needs an insurance break
Much needed quick opening set for the Italian.
Fritz doesn’t look sharp at all today, with Musetti dominating in almost all facets
Lincoln Riley looks totally unprepared after a bye. People will blame the time zone but should be irrelevant given kick time.
I don’t know where Griekspoor’s head will be after Brussels but it’s a lot of trust in Nakashima who has historically faded late in the year and showing similar signs this year
