▶️NIBIN Win: In June 2024, a Florida drive by killed a mother and her 4 year old. A tip identified the shooter. One month later in Georgia, that same suspect crashed during a chase and ran into the woods, dropping a bookbag. Atlanta ATF K-9s found the bag, with his ID and two guns inside, one with a machinegun conversion device. His DNA was on both guns. NIBIN showed that one of those guns was used in an Atlanta shooting two weeks earlier. He was arrested, pled guilty, and was sentenced in August to 25 months. The Florida murder case is still pending trial.

100 years ago today, Eliot Ness was appointed a temporary prohibition agent in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, a legacy agency of ATF.
Against long odds, he and his “Untouchables” shattered organized crime’s grip on Chicago and helped bring Al Capone to justice. A brilliant crime fighter and leader, Ness became an American icon whose story still fuels movies, books, TV shows, and comics.

#NIBIN Win: A DoorDash driver was ambushed in Milwaukee on May 30 when an unknown individual fired into the driver’s car. Investigators recovered four 9 mm cartridge casings from the scene and entered them into NIBIN. About a month later, a stop involving an open intoxicant led officers to a convicted felon with a 9 mm pistol. A test-fire of the pistol generated a NIBIN lead linking the same firearm to the DoorDash shooting. When presented with a photo array, the DoorDash driver immediately identified the suspect. During questioning, the suspect admitted being at the scene. He was charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
