Preserving Lebanon's past is an investment in its future. The US and Lebanese governments recently completed a four-year restoration of the Mussaylha Archaeological Site, funded by a $210,000 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) grant. 🧵
The project restored the historic Mussaylha Fort, reactivated its mill, and trained local farmers in sustainable agriculture. U.S. Ambassador Michel Issa emphasized that this reflects a steadfast commitment to Lebanon's sovereignty and heritage.
Building on this momentum, the US announced a $436,827 investment to preserve a Roman-era site in Chim and revive its historic olive oil tradition in collaboration with ATFL-award-winning NGO Beit el Baraka and the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the American Help for Lebanon Association (AHLA) and its Chairwoman, Laura Abinajm Eidson, for coordinating the delivery of essential firefighting equipment, medical supplies, and other critical resources to Lebanon.🧵
Equipping Lebanon's civil defense and first responders is a vital component of protecting local communities. We remain deeply grateful to the Lebanese American diaspora and US-based organizations that actively contribute to the safety and resilience of the Lebanese people. 🇱🇧🇺🇸
Lebanon has taken the historic step of entering direct negotiations with Israel, but the continued destruction of villages threatens to undermine the Trilateral Framework and erode Lebanese public confidence in diplomacy and the Lebanese state.

ATFL applauds Banque du Liban (BDL) for revoking the license of Bank Sadaret in support of the U.S. Department of Treasury's efforts to isolate Iranian institutions from the international financial system.
US Treasury official after Lebanon’s central bank revoked the operating license of Iran’s Bank Saderat:
• Treasury commends Lebanon for taking this tough action even as Iranian leaders were visiting the country
• Secretary Bessent’s message has been received, and countries across the world are taking action to cut off the Iranian regime’s remaining economic lifelines in support of Operation Economic Outcast
• We will continue to work with our counterparts across the globe to end the Iranian regime’s abuse of the global financial system once and for all
ATFL commends the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Internal Security Forces (ISF) for their recent operations seizing illicit explosives.
The American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) is deeply concerned by reports of intimidation and politically motivated efforts targeting Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, in connection with her diplomatic responsibilities.
Lebanon’s diplomatic representatives must be able to carry out the policies of their duly constituted government without fear of intimidation, harassment, or political retaliation. Efforts to undermine legitimate diplomatic engagement only weaken Lebanon’s institutions at a critical moment for the country’s future.

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut thanks President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for their leadership in bringing a long-held Lebanese dream closer to reality: direct flights between Lebanon and the United States.
This important step strengthens trust between our two countries and signals confidence in Lebanon’s future. Direct flights would bring families closer together, strengthen ties with the Lebanese American community, and make it easier for American businesses to explore opportunities and invest in Lebanon.
We look forward to working with our Lebanese partners to turn this opportunity into a reality that benefits both our peoples and supports a more prosperous Lebanon.

For 40 years, ATFL has worked across partisan lines and with every administration to strengthen the US-Lebanon relationship.
At our 40th Anniversary Annual Dinner, President and CEO Edward M. Gabriel reflected on the independent and nonpartisan identity that has defined ATFL since its founding.
Lebanon should never be the subject of decisions made elsewhere.
At ATFL’s 40th Anniversary Annual Dinner, Lebanese Ambassador to the U.S. Nada Hamadeh Moawad insisted on the responsibility of Lebanese institutions to shape the country’s future. Sovereignty is more than a slogan; it is something Lebanon must build, practice and protect.
