You do realize Democrats had 136 years of control over the state Legislature. Why didn’t they cut the grocery tax then? Instead, they left the state BILLIONS in debt and voted to give themselves pay raises during the 2008 financial crisis while Alabamians were suffering.
We cut the grocery tax in half last quadrennium and delivered over $1.5B in tax relief. We’ve been able to do that while fixing the education system your buddies broke and building the strongest economy in our state’s history. Your Democratic colleagues have been proposing elimination of the tax on groceries for years, I have been talking about it since I started my campaign, but it takes the realization of the possibility of losing the governorship and a bunch of seats in the legislature 2 weeks before the election for you guys to have an election year conversion for something that should be happened years ago while you have been in charge.

A Republican state representative, Brett Easterbrook, was arrested last week on first-degree human trafficking allegations, which is a Class A felony.
Republican leadership has been silent, but Attorney General Steve Marshall gives us an update on Easterbrooks case and also several other arrests around the state.
.@AGSteveMarshall gave his first extended account of the multi-agency human trafficking sting in Atmore that netted 17 arrests over three days, calling it the product of a deliberate push by Escambia County law enforcement to police the Interstate 65 corridor.
The Atmore Police Department led the operation between October 1 and October 3 with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, alongside the Monroe and Clarke County sheriff’s offices, Poarch Tribal Police and the Bay Minette, Flomaton and Brewton police departments.
Undercover officers posted online ads posing as escorts, some presenting as underage, and arrested the men who showed up at an Atmore hotel.
Seven of the 17 were initially charged with first-degree human trafficking – the rest with soliciting prostitution.
Marshall spoke to the latest on @Rightside_Media hosted by @ASinclairAL and @ABShaver, in partnership with @YHN on Thursday morning.
“I think it’s part of a broader operation that was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies down there. Sheriff Jackson does a wonderful job in Escambia County, and frankly, has had this as something he wanted to work on,” Marshall said.
