Over the past ten months, it has been my privilege to serve as the Assistant Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC). During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to listen, learn, and see firsthand the extraordinary people behind our Special Operations enterprise.
Our role is unique. As the civilian secretariat for Special Operations, our responsibility extends beyond oversight. We exercise the authorities entrusted to this office by removing barriers, accelerating decisions, and ensuring our warfighters have the tools and capabilities they need at the speed of relevance.
This account will provide a window into our work: the people behind the mission, the work underway, and the priorities and decisions shaping the future of SOF. Everything we do is focused on ensuring the force remains ready, equipped, and empowered to meet whatever comes next.
