A rare and highly protected Black Stork was shot down on Tuesday just outside Buskett, as it was being filmed by birdwatchers.
This is the reality migrating birds face in Malta.

Some 6,000 people — 200 of them children — are right now starving to death in a humanitarian catastrophe orchestrated by Vladimir Putin's Russia.
The town of Oleshky and its surrounding district in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast exist under Russian occupation as a prison — and it is rapidly turning into a death camp.
No one is allowed in or out. The last food delivery was on May 26. Medical supplies are close to non-existent.

Yet recovery is possible. Curlews respond when wet, open habitats, sympathetic farming and effective predator management come together. Losing the call of the Curlew would be a loss too far—but it is not inevitable, if we can turn Action Plans into action.

Most likely my final encounter of the season with an Osprey this afternoon on the Tay. Unexpected delight as I thought it had probably gone already. Now on shift which mean no photography for at least 2 weeks by then they will definitely be away. Great way to end the season. #1

Working with local authorities, CABS teams caught 9 poachers and removed 560+ illegal traps, 19 nets & 3 decoys between Lake Iseo and Lake Garda.

A sad sight, this road casualty Barn owl was found by a friend of mine on the A69 near Hexham, it had a @_BTO ring on. The information received back was the bird was ringed with a further 3 owlets in May and fledged in June, many owlets face challenges when moving territory.
