Knowing how to build, maintain, & utilize a professional network is an essential skill! #GCChat #NSGC20 1. Reach out to the right people 2. Keep in touch with your contacts 3. Build an online presence 4. Attend networking events 5. Help your fellow contacts in return
So...how do you move forward, then? Network (even if it’s hard for you)! Tell people what you want to do! Let people know! Saying yes can get you to new places that maybe you did or didn’t imagine. Panelist all nodding. ^BK #NSGC20

Moving forward, there may be lessons for the #GCchat workforce to learn from other professions, such as pharmacists. In 2000, there was a report published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services about an extensive shortage of pharmacists. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

This is amazing! So happy to be a small part of rWGS through @RadyGenomics and @SanfordHealth children's
“Ultimately infants who had their genomes sequenced spent an average of 513 fewer days in the hospital than acutely ill babies who didn't receive rWGS. They also had 11 fewer major surgeries, as well as 16 fewer invasive diagnostic tests.”

I’ve been struggling with what to say about the current state of our country; I don’t want to be complicit with silence. But I’m realizing it’s not MY words that are important. I will strive to listen and amplify voices that have been silenced for far too long. #BlackLivesMatter
