We are thrilled to feature in the @EnglefieldUK Echo. Read about the habitat creation and restoration work we've carried out on the Ufton Loop.

A brilliant morning on the Kennet training volunteers the art of redd spotting, with some excellent fresh examples and even some wild brown trout spawning which we viewed from the riverbank. We hope to expand the number of stretches we survey for redds. #citizenscience #volunteer
Storm drains take what goes down them straight to the river.
No interception, no filtering, no treatment.
So please love your river and don't put anything down these drains. No cigarette butts or other litter. #binthebutt #BagItBinIt #OnlyRainDownTheDrain #yellowfish #riverkennet
Redd spotting and Springs & Sources surveying, our trained volunteers have made the most of the sunny January days to get out by the river and collect data.
Thank you to our ever wonderful volunteers!

📢Donate Today and help us build a new boardwalk at Stonebridge Wild River Reserve. Can we surpass £2k this week?
crowdfunder.co.uk/p/qr/5lL7z…
The old boardwalk has already had a section removed by our volunteers as it was longer safe, please share this post and donate if you can.
Please donate and help us replace the old wooden boardwalk by the Kennet at Stonebridge Wild River Reserve which is has come to the end of its life.

It has been a valued and well used community asset in Marlborough. #fundraiser #chalkstream

Our volunteer Redd Spotters on the Kennet at Axford and Hungerford.
Often our volunteers use polarised glasses to see the trout nests more clearly.
Heavy rain can colour the water, so redd spotting is carried out when the weather is dry and not just after rain. #chalkstream
5 Redds spotted earier this week on the Pang and plenty of fish about too! This stretch of important chalk stream was flowing well, which is what wild brown trout need to ensured the eggs they lay are well oxygenated and develop.
Thanks to our citizen scientist redd spotters.
💧The Fyfield wetland, next to a stretch of the upper Kennet is filling up nicely 💧
Wetlands help store water and can reduce flooding. Wetlands also filter pollutants and increase biodiversity. #wetlands #kennetcatchmentpartnership
When trees get blown over along the riverbank the uprooted tree plate can often become the perfect place for kingfisher to create their burrows and nesting chamber at the end of the burrow.
This tree was spotted recently on the Kennet upstream of Marlborough. #kingfisher #kennet
A fine example of a stonefly larva found this month in a Pang riverfly monitoring samples.
Stonefly thrive in good flow and good water quality, they are 1 of the 8 indicator groups of freshwater invertebrates that contribute to the riverfly score.

We love to share our volunteer's videos and this one is from a recent morning of redd spotting on the Kennet. 4 redds logged.
Our trained volunteer redd spotters log the new trout redds at each visit using our redd spotter app.

Our epic volunteers carried out the annual harvest mouse surveying at our Stonebridge Wild River Reserve in Marlborough.
The volunteers focused on the Scrub Habitat Area of the water meadow, where 9 nests were found
We used the @Mammal_Society
Mammal Mapper App. #citizenscience
Our Springs & Sources citizen science volunteers on the Upper Kennet have carried out their December survey.
Fixed point sites are photographed every month and if the river is dry, pooling or flowing. The data is useful to us and is being used by the @EnvAgency

Sound up to listen to the Pang.
Our volunteer redd spotter on the Pang has been out checking for redds. None logged yet. The water level is still low, but flow is good and the gravel is clean, so fingers crossed for the coming weeks.

kennetandpang.org/events/det… We are looking for volunteers to fill gaps in both the Kennet and Pang catchments. #browntrout
ARK is excited to have received a FiPL grant to start a beaver information hub in the Kennet & Pang catchments. Our Project Manager Rupert recently attended a beaver management course, hosted by @nationaltrust @NaturalEngland and the @EnvAgency on Purbeck #Beavers #chalkstream
Tree of Hope Planting Ceremony - Yesterday ARK attended this event at Greenham Common Control Tower, where a sapling from the Sycamore Gap was planted. This is 1 of 49 that have been planted at various locations around the country.
