Morgan Farrell focused her PhD work in studying how bacteria influence marine animal health with the objective of driving innovations that restore degraded coral reefs. From this research she developed a restoration device that helps increase marine invertebrate populations.

During Ronald Samia's PhD he studied how yeast and hops interact during beer fermentation to release tropical aromas. His goal? To help brewers and researchers create flavorful, sustainable beers. This research was part of his study of brewing science at Oregon State University.
