What shocks me about academics is how silent they are. Academia is great at theory (i.e., I believe in equity) but not always in practice (i.e., I'm going to stand up for equity). If you need someone to have your back, you might be in trouble. The courage isn't always there.

This is an inadequate response. I'd like to know what you're going to do about the racialized+misogynist body shaming and disproportionate response. Are your employees empowered to enforce a dress code like a middle school? Where is that dress code posted? Is it sexist like most?

And now my heart breaks for Russians as well. The moral courage to admit you were wrong, you had bad information, and you are ashamed. Damn. That's some bravery and I applaud these men for recognizing it and the Ukrainians for taking the high road (mostly).
