To indicate in a paper that you've used AI, you can either cite an AI tool generally or cite a specific chat.
This page on our site has examples of both approaches:

The guidance for setting up tables and figures on the official #APAStyle website is based on Sections 7.8–7.36 of the Publication Manual (7th ed.).

Sections 6.24–6.25 of the Publication Manual (7th ed.) provide these general guidelines and examples, followed by sections with guidance for other cases (units of measurement, time, Latin abbreviations, etc.).
(4/5)
As a general guideline, we recommend introducing and using an abbreviation only when it's needed three or more times in a paper. If the term appears only once or twice, it's usually easier for your readers if you've just spelled it out.

Example sentences:
👉 ...where a large language model (LLM) was included. This particular LLM has...
👉 ...in the results of a survey conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA). The APA survey was published...

Abbreviations should be defined (explained) at their first use in an #APAStyle paper. In text, these often appear as in the following examples.

A better way to report research: How reporting guidelines—such as @APA_Style Journal Article Reporting Standards (JARS)—can save researchers time, strengthen papers, improve the reach of published work, and be used as a tool in the classroom ➡️ bit.ly/3VoO2Wf

ALT The image is a promotional graphic for an article in the American Psychological Association's "Monitor on Psychology." It highlights "A better way to report research" using APA Style Journal Article Reporting Standards (JARS). On the right, there is a list of terms and symbols: JARS–Quant, JARS–Mixed, JARS–Qual, and JARS–REC.
It's that time of year again. Do you recognize these ghost and zombie guidelines?

When a term has more than one plural form, use your judgment to decide which spelling is appropriate to use in your work. Often this will be the one shown first in a dictionary entry. But spellings noted to be "less common" are still okay. Just be consistent within a paper.

In a journal article, the Results section (including tables and figures) tells you "what," and the Discussion section tells you the "so what."
