To further emphasize my point as to just how unpopular skins were in the past, I scrounged up a pic from as recently as July of 2024β¦.where there are STILL ORIGINAL SKINS FOR SALE IN THE STORE from 2019.
This means that after FIVE YEARS the original skins were still not sold out.
Its mind blowing how @splinterlands can go from players not caring at all about a product to complaining about there not being enough!
But I see this as a very positive sign that we can turn something like this around by creating a desirable product within the community.
Will we see the same trend something like Binders next? Or splintervibes? Or something else?
Signs point to yes!
One of my favorite things to do is provide historical perspective @splinterlands
This shot is from may of 2019 featuring the original SplinterStorm skin set for alpha.
Let me tell you:
NO ONE cared about skins in those days.
As you can see here you could get every single skin for 50% off to complete the set which would be 25K DEC.
Still, almost no one bought these skins at the time.
For years these skins were available as the game moved on you could still buy them up until just a couple years ago.
Inventory just sat on the shelf.
It is a thrill to watch people complain today about not getting the skins they want.
Not because i dont want all Splinterlands players to be happy, but because this is another product category that came back from the absolute dead.
Now players complain about not getting skins is such a dramatic change from the times where no cared AT ALL about them.
Leave it to Splinterlands to create value through the dogged determination of the team and the inspired creativity of its leaders.
Skins are now IN!

Gloomhold is a dungeon crawler set in the world of @splinterlands.
The town of Gloomhold houses the "Last Rung", an elevator that burrows deep below Praetoria and where all manners of creatures lurk and loot waits patiently to be discovered. Go deeper and deeper into the land, uncovering secrets and defeating ever-stronger monsters.
The game is very much in development, and it's an ambitious one, but with the help of my good friend Claude, who is pretty good at the coding thing, I'm fairly confident this project will see the light of day before the end of the year.

First @splinterlands bracketed season in the book for Modern Battles. I chose Diamond and rose too Division 5. Slow n steady let me enjoy a nice comfortable 76% Win rate take home almost 400 $SPS and a nice end of season glint bonus! Somehow in Wild I made it up to Champ 3 just at the end and had my best finish yet with a Top50!
