The National Assembly has passed the Access to Information Bill marking a significant stride towards enhancing democracy, transparency & accountability in Zambia.
This means that for the first time Zambia will join the League of Nations that have ATI law in their statute books.
The Zambia ATI law will inevitably have its inherent limitations but we hope that its enactment and its coming into force will create an opportunity for its refinement over time through review processes and through interpretation of some aspects of it by the courts of law.
Given the long way we have come as a country, we believe that having something to work with is better than having nothing at all.”
