Hardware is back and it's not temporary.
Multiple S-curves converging at once. If you're thinking about building something, now is the time to pull the trigger.
Thanks @octopart and @altium for having me on.
On this CTRL+Listen Podcast, @AMIRrorROY, VP of New Biz Dev at @imagineeringpcb, a family-owned PCB fabrication and assembly shop since 1985, covers why he believes we're entering a new hardware renaissance.

For 30 years, technology has moved in one direction: turning information into intuitive interfaces
Somehow, the smartest software we’ve ever built took us back to a textbox
We’ve spent the last 2 years at @openuidev trying to fix that. 6 months ago we open-sourced it: 10K+ GitHub stars, 6M+ downloads
ChatGPT shipped Intelligent UI and showed everyone what it looks like
Today we’re releasing OpenUI 1.0 bringing it to every other agent
Asked Panasonic and Isola about material lead times at PCB West and they just looked at me like this

OpenAI built Intelligent UI for ChatGPT
We built it for everyone else
Last week we reverse engineered how Intelligent UI works. Today we are open-sourcing ours.
Any model, even local ones on @ollama. A component library built for it. Language, renderers, runtime - all of it.

we’re launching Open Intelligent UI :)
built with OpenUI, it brings the @ChatGPT-style Intelligent UI experience to your own stack.
use it with hosted models today, or wire it up to local models through tools like Ollama, LM Studio, etc.
the goal: the same kind of rich, generative UI experience - but open, cheaper, faster AND inside your own apps.
this is just the start. we’ll be adding a lot more examples, integrations, and capabilities to the repo over time.
Check it out:

fun fact: openui.com isn’t owned by @OpenAI. It’s owned by us :)
OpenUI is the open standard for Generative UI - and yes, it’s actually open source and MIT licensed, unlike someone else 👀
vibe-coded this demo after seeing the launch video for what ChatGPT is calling “Intelligent UI.”
if you want to build the same kind of experiences without the paywall and actually ship them inside your own apps, try openui.com.
also, very coincidentally, we hit 10K GitHub stars today, pretty awesome timing, considering the big guys are now validating what we’ve been shouting about for almost 2 years :)

ChatGPT launched their version of Generative UI yesterday. We took it apart
tldr; the agent never write raw code. It emits DIL (a new language), the server compiles and streams it, the client renders it using a component set so that it feels native

Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test.
48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video.
It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard.

Replying to @imagineeringpcb
@imagineeringpcb had some amazing boards on display. Great to share space with them at @PCBWest today! They'll be at @pcbcarolina as well if you want to check them out in November
Sat down with Karoly at IMTS to learn more about IPercept and was astonished by what his product could do.
IPercept will become the standard and eventually a requirement in machine shops.

Just want to shout out @AllocationsInc and Jihany, Titus, Luis + team.. If you are forming an SPV, there is no one better. I tried sydecar and some others and no one followed through on their promises except for Allocations. They made the process feel simple and easy.
