It was a great pleasure to have @annaschnurer here in #Padova - a fantastic day spent among #science, art and good Italian food 😂😃 hope to meet you soon Anna! #anaerobic #digestion #biogas @DiBio_UniPD @LauraTreu
Last week week we attented the #ISAM2023 (uibk.ac.at/congress/isam2023…) in Innsbruck. @annaschnurer gave a keynote about syntrophs, #GeorgCheng and #EbbaPerman talked about acetogens and high solid digestion. Great days with many nice talks about the fascinating anaerobes!!
Advanced team building! We started the day with a workshop talking about electron transfer and interactions between species and continued with transfer of curling stones and interactions between coworkers. Great day🥌😊

We look for a postdoc with experience and interest for anaerobic cultivation #MicPhys_MIB @MIB_WUR Announcement will be out soon, but if you have interest please reach out.
We are expanding the team and are looking for two new PhD candidates slu.se/en/about-slu/work-at-…. The positions are linked to the biogas competence center @BiogasResearch, a unique platform for collaboration between academia, industry and society. Are you our new colleague?
Yesterday we meet a enthusiastic group of student from 5th grade. We talked about the greatness of biogas and about the importance of sorting out organic waste. We in turn got many tricky question from them😅 It was fun to see their engagement and interests for the climate!

The Nordic biogas model refers to waste-based #biogas systems producing transport fuel and biofertilizer generating many positive societal effects. Our article also include critical aspects of system assessment and aspects of supporting policy.

Finally holiday! We clearly earned some days off! Last months we published several papers; Acetobase2 doi.org/10.1093/database/baa…; Methanation of syngas doi.org/10.1007/s00253-022-1…; Serial AD of food waste doi.org/10.1016/j.biombioe.2…
Thanks @BiogasResearch @RISEsweden and @tekniskaverken
Today we and SLU colleagues together with representatives from authorities, branch organisations and companies, had the opportunity to talk to farmers about the greatness of the biogas system. The interest in Sweden is increasing, for both biogas and bio-fertiliser. Fun day!
We did it and it was even more smooth than expected! Working trip by train can be recommended - a very good team building event! Now we are looking forward to skyros-congressos.pt/icbm/
The trip to Braga and the ICBM 4 skyros-congressos.pt/icbm/ have started 😊 Uppsala to Stockholm ✔️ Now waits another three days exploration of the European train system. Updates will come!
Plant material also contribute with antibiotic resistance in biogas plants! Risk or not? We think NO -the biogas system is not increasing the problem, might even decrease it! Thanks to German colleagues!

Curious about propionate oxidisers in methanogenic systems? Check this new nice review academic.oup.com/femsre/adva… Great summary by @MariaWesterholm, Magda Calusinska and Jan Dolfing
Today He Sun successfully defended his thesis “Antibiotic resistance in biogas processes” pub.epsilon.slu.se/26327/. Congrats you did great! 👏🎉🥂 Thanks to the opponent Prof Kornelia Smalla and the evaluation committee for the nice discussions. Now time to celebrate!

Energimyndigheten gav oss en tidig julklapp!
De har beviljat vår ansökan om ett nytt kompetenscentrum inom biogasområdet som bygger vidare på det tidigare Biogas Research Center.

Planing the train trip to Braga and @4Icbm in May 2022. Its a long way…. and where are the track in Portugal? But we will do it! 🚊🚆🚂
Feeding fish with yeast cells grown on hydrolysate from AD of food waste @FormasForsk#Waste2Fish (slu.se/en/departments/molecu…). Fascinating how microbes can be put to work and assist in our strive to reach a more sustainable society. So fun and interesting to be a microbiologist!
Can acetogens be used for surveillance of biogas plants? If you are curious check out our recent papers. We are also exploring this topic further so more will come…. Thanks for collaboration @GasumOy @tekniskaverken, rdcu.be/ct8k2, links.email.frontiersin.org/…
Starting up our new biogas babies. Plug flow digestion of food waste is a hot topic in Sweden right now and we will run some lab test to evaluate novel operational management strategies in collaboration with partners in @BiogasResearch. Updates will come.....
