We’re proud to announce that @CMOH_Society is an official beneficiary of Easy Day Foundation’s partnership with the 2025 @AMAs. On this Memorial Day, we remember the service members who gave their lives for our freedom, and we honor those who live each day to uphold the legacy they left behind. Of the more than 40 million Americans who have served since the Civil War, fewer than 4,000 have received the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest recognition for valor in combat. Today, only 61 Recipients are living. Retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta is one of them. On October 25, 2007, during a harrowing patrol in Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley, Sal and his team were ambushed by a well-armed and coordinated enemy force. Under a storm of gunfire, Sal charged through the chaos to pull his wounded squad leader to safety, administered aid, and returned fire all while under direct attack. When he saw two insurgents dragging away a fellow soldier, Giunta sprinted forward alone, shot one, wounded the other, and rescued his teammate from enemy hands. That night, two true heroes — Sergeant Joshua Brennan and Specialist Hugo Mendoza — gave their lives so the rest of their team could overcome the ambush. For them, and for those who never made it home, Sal humbly shoulders the Medal — not for what he did, but for what they gave. On behalf of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society — and in honor of those who gave their last full measure of devotion — Sal will be joining us at the American Music Awards to help present an award. A reminder that behind every moment of celebration stands a legacy of sacrifice that made it possible. 100% of donations made during the AMAs broadcast will go directly to premier nonprofits like the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, ensuring the Medal’s legacy of service and sacrifice endures, and inspiring all Americans to live in service of something greater than themselves.
