Last week, ALS Canada and an ALS community member met with representatives from the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) to encourage the timely completion of ongoing pricing negotiations for Qalsody. The meeting was an opportunity to share the realities of families affected by SOD1-ALS, and why equitable access to approved ALS treatments matters. ALS Canada will continue to engage with the pCPA, the manufacturer, and other stakeholders to help ensure community perspectives continue to inform the negotiation process. As negotiations continue, help maintain momentum toward timely and equitable access to Qalsody: bit.ly/3V9qEvq.

And that’s a wrap! ALS Canada was proud to sponsor and attend this year’s André Delambre ALS Research Symposium in Montreal. Congratulations to the organizers on a fantastic event. It was great to connect with ALS Canada-funded awardees and other members of the global ALS research community, hear about emerging discoveries, and discuss their research and latest findings. Events like this help bring the right people together. The ideas and collaborations sparked here can help turn promising research into real-world impact for people affected by ALS. With your generous support, you're helping make progress like this possible.

For people living with SOD1-ALS, Qalsody offers the hope of continuing to do what matters most. It also signals to the ALS community what may be possible as new ALS therapies continue to emerge. Now, that progress must be matched by timely and equitable access through public drug plans. As pricing negotiations continue, we are calling on provinces to prepare for swift reimbursement for Qalsody to help ensure Canadians like Tre can continue accessing a treatment that is making a meaningful difference in their lives. 🔗 Read Tre’s story and add your voice in support of equitable access to Qalsody: bit.ly/3V9qEvq.

BREAKING NEWS We are encouraged as we share today's announcement of positive Phase 3 trial results for ulefnersen, a therapy designed to target the underlying genetic cause of FUS-ALS, a rare, often aggressive genetic form of ALS. The early results announced suggest the therapy may slow disease progression, reporting a significant change in neurofilament light chain (NfL), a biomarker of nerve cell damage. While more detailed data are still to come, ALS Canada looks forward to what these early results could mean for people and families affected by FUS-ALS, and by the potential impact of what we may learn from them for the broader ALS community. We will continue following developments closely. Read more about the announcement today: bit.ly/46EpfzH .
