On November 9, 2019, during Coach's Corner, Don Cherry complained that Canadian immigrants benefit from the sacrifices of veterans and do not wear remembrance poppies.
He said, "You people that come here... you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that... These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada, these guys paid the biggest price."
He was fired for his comments. He was fired for speaking his mind.
I didn't think there was anything offensive about his comments and the time, and I still don't.
