The workers who wear Amazon vests and drive vans with the company’s logo aren’t legally employed by Amazon. But that could change in NYC, under legislation that Teamsters, Amazon workers, and the Democratic Socialists of America are organizing to pass labornotes.org/2026/10/amazo…

Our schools should be safe and functional, no exceptions. Instead, they’re not only dangerous, but they’re ruining the ability to learn, too @NYCMayor's 'Pothole Politics’ should mean fixing our broken schools too. Our new op-ed on @CityLimitsNews: citylimits.org/opinion-potho…

“Green Schools were actually part of Mayor Mamdani’s campaign platform. They connect so many of the mayor’s priorities: child care, safe work, good jobs, and fixing what’s broken in our day-to-day. But so far, we’ve seen no action.” citylimits.org/opinion-potho…

Amazon has spent $5 million on an astroturf campaign trying to stop a new law protecting Amazon drivers. New Yorkers see right through it. We need the City Council to ignore Amazon’s shady lobbying, listen to workers, and pass the Delivery Protection Act! Click here to send a message to your Council Member: actionnetwork.org/letters/pa…

Now THIS is a trend we can get behind! If a worker drives and Amazon-branded van, wears an Amazon-branded vest, and follows a route determined by Amazon, they should be treated as an employee. Calling them sub-contractors just makes it easier for Amazon to exploit them.
The Delivery Protection Act has arrived in Chicago! Today is the City Council hearing and we are on our way to passing this bill to protect Amazon workers and public safety. Chicago is here to let Amazon know they can’t set aside the wellbeing of our delivery drivers! Thank you, Alderwoman Julia Ramirez (@the12thward) for standing with us in this fight! Amazon's response to a New York City bill that could protect Amazon drivers is to threaten the city with the prospect of jobs loss and slower, more expensive deliveries. The trillion dollar company says the proposal from the city council and Zohran Mamdani could put over 5,000 delivery jobs at risk, a thinly veiled threat that Amazon will respond to attempts to protect delivery drivers by cutting jobs.

New Yorkers with low income are budgeting carefully and adjusting spending. New CSS research featured by @Gothamist shows why the efforts must be matched by transparent financial products, strong consumer protections, and wages that reflect living costs. gothamist.com/news/no-netfli…

Amazon ranked #2 in the country last year when it came to the number of its employees on Medicaid and SNAP. Clearly, the billions Amazon collects in tax breaks doesn't translate into prosperity for its workers.
NEW: At 100 major U.S. companies last year — including Target, Walmart, and DoorDash — the average CEO took home $17.5 million while turning a blind eye to workers losing Medicaid and SNAP or being attacked by ICE. Protect workers. Curb CEO greed. REPORT: ips-dc.org/report-executive-…

We're looking forward to the day when officials actually enforcing laws against Amazon is routine instead of newsworthy. Here's hoping that more cities start taking notes from NYC! wsj.com/business/retail/zohr…

New York City is on verge of ending a huge chunk of Amazon's exploitation. Right now Amazon technically doesn't employ tens of thousands of drivers. These drivers officially work for other companies, but in reality those companies function like Amazon subsidiaries. This loophole lets Amazon get away with not being responsible for all of these workers — who are exposed to unsafe working conditions and experience numerous accidents and injuries. Now the New York City Council is close to closing that loophole, and Zohran Mamdani is throwing his weight behind the legislation too.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is backing the Delivery Protection Act, a piece of local legislation which would require Amazon to directly employ their drivers. It could open a lane for drivers to unionize — and is thus seen as an existential threat by Amazon. jacobin.com/2026/08/amazon-n…

The Mamdani administration is supporting the Delivery Protection Act which is aimed at holding Amazon accountable for their delivery workers' health, safety, and overall working conditions. We interviewed NYC Deputy Mayor of Economic Justice, Julie Su, and Amazon workers.
