The solution to the current crisis can be a very simple two sentence speech by Rama: 'I resign. The next PM is someone who everybody can respect.' Parliament brings back pre-2008 electoral code. Elections in thee months. That's it.

Good point. Arsyeja qe ka shume vajza e gra ne proteste eshte sense Rama ka degdisur shume burra e djem ne emigrim. Por shpirti shqiptarit nuk njeh gjini.

It was Rama's pet project, a small basketball court near his office. (He's a former professional player). Protesters have pulled the poles/hoops from concrete and taken it his office door. Now they are dancing on the beats of drums on the hoopless court. You can't make this up.
Couragous move to be applauded because Rama will try to fire them all. Academics on the right side of history like Rama once was, when he was a arts university lecturer himself protesting the communist government. The irony is how deeply power has corrupted him now.
For the first time, university professors in #Tirana have walked out of their classes to join the student protests, which have been ongoing for seven days, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
One thing that has really surprised me from the protests/riots in Tirana is how fearless these young people are. Fearless. Faced with brutal beatings, tear gas, water cannons, rubber bullets, they are still at it. Young men & women. The Albanian courage gene doesn't go dormant.

7. Albanians, including myself, protested peacefully for over four months, daily. We asked for democracy and accountability. We asked for a chance to have a new election conducted by caretaker government under a new electoral code. We got back mockery and propaganda.

Police keeps calling on speakers for women to get away as soons as they are about start hitting the crowds hard, but the riots girls don't budge, often forming protective shield on rest of crowd. Crazy stuff. One think Albanian women don't lack is bravery.
An interesting feature for Tirana protests/riots is that there are many young women involved, also diaspora members who happen to be in Albania. This young lady is Albanian-American in town on vacation. Now to protest. She says: My mom was here for Flamingo, I am here for this.
1. Anyone familiar with Albanian history knows that it is mostly the psychopathic strongman type that rises to the top. Edi Rama is the lastest in a series. Sali Berisha, the same. Enver Hoxha set the format. But even the Hoxha could read the pulse, giving power to Ramiz Alia.
I am wearing the brightest coat I have, white (wearing black, a hat, and God-forbit a Covid mask - are tickets to police searches, beatings, detention). I am just walking downtown Tirana and still getting dirty looks by what are obviously cops in civilian clothes. #AlbaniaRiots.
Stores in Tirana are stocking up on earplugs as people rush to get them over a rumour spread on social media that police have been given a sonic weapons that causes immense pain up to 3 km away. Sounds like disinformation, but don't blame people for playing it safe. Good night!
