Seriously thinking of quitting @duolingo even with a 1500 day streak. Too many sentences marked as incorrect when they are valid, or marked incorrectly (marking ‘chien’ as wrong for ‘dog’ and saying it should be ‘chiot’ which is actually puppy) Getting v frustrating.

Having the most frustrating time trying to fix problem with my @LinkedInUK account. They’ve closed my (unresolved) query so can’t email them & presumably have to start all over again. Also, feels like it’s an AI I’ve been dealing with: not reading my emails properly. Unimpressed.

A pretty damning first five years of Brexit, quantified here rather neatly.

So lucky to get to see the #gotback2024 concert. It was as brilliant as you’d expect. @PaulMcCartney is a genius, his band are awesome, and the staging is fantastic.

Like many others I am finding it increasingly hard to stay on this platform. Will stay here for a bit longer, but am also moving to where the sky is blue. There are LOADS of academics over there so come join us 😊

The saddest news: the death of Dame Maggie Smith marks the end of a golden era & a quite extraordinary life. She was a truly great actress, “one of the greats” & simply the best company: wise, witty, waspish, wonderful. One of a kind in every way & consequently irreplaceable.

This is a really difficult watch. But I think it’s worth watching if you can. As Prof Christina Pagel says - the most devastating and moving testimony.
Prof @Kevin_Fong giving the most devastating and moving testimony to the Covid Inquiry of visiting hospital intensive care units at the height of the second wave in late Dec 2020. The unimaginable scale of death, the trauma, the loss of hope. Please watch this 2min clip.
