I will no longer be playing marvel rivals until netease makes a statement saying they don’t stand for this and protect their black players and content creators. As a black content creator who has experienced racism as well sometimes while playing and mistreatment along with other games think it’s time for me to make a stance for my community.
Some Marvel Rivals content creators are cancelling the game over “racism”, some players are asking to hire consultants
The backlash grew after a streamer was reportedly called the N-word by a white player during a match.
When he tried to report the player, he found that the dedicated “hate speech” reporting option had been removed
Players and creators are also criticizing:
>Black characters receiving fewer skins than white and Asian characters.
>The removal of the specific hate-speech reporting option.
>Restrictions in the official Discord involving certain political tags, including “Gaza.”
>NetEase’s overall response to racism and harassment in the community.
All of the people who commented under my marvels tweet proved my point.
All I said was I didn’t want to be apart of a community that was literally being racist for no reason towards black people and the comments literally proved me right. Told me to get over it , was literally racists towards me, I literally got called the hard r.

Blocking and reporting these people doesn’t work because none of my reports despite there being clear evidence have never resulted in this person getting punished.
Also just because in your experience gaming has always been toxic and racist doesn’t mean we HAVE to accept it in the community of gaming. This is not 2013 where you can sling slurs and people laugh. Get it together. Netease took away the hate speech option and netease refuses to make a statement about the rapid raging racism in their community.
