JUST IN:
FANNIE MASEMOLA TO RESUME DUTIES AS NATIONAL POLICE COMMISSIONER
President Cyril Ramaphosa has lifted the precautionary suspension of National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola.
Masemola will resume his full duties on Monday, 19 October 2026.
He was placed on precautionary suspension in April following his appearance in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on charges relating to an alleged contravention of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
The National Director of Public Prosecutions instructed on 15 September that the charges be withdrawn.
The Pretoria Magistrates’ Court formally withdrew the charges on 22 September.
Ramaphosa has thanked Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane for her service during Masemola’s absence.

Carrim attorneys told the commission that they can't take instructions from him, thus can't provide his SARS docs. His doctor said he can't testify due to his psychological issues. Here is he traveling to two countries and attending court, giving instructions with no issues‼️

The Netherlands government refused this guarantee. The organisers got the Guarantee elsewhere.
Private Sector must fund this thing and leave the state coffers alone, please.
The race day crowd will probably be 100k people. Maphorisa did 70k last month without all this drama.

South Africa’s push for a 2028/29 F1 return is now moving into the stage where ambition has to be backed by hard financial guarantees.
Gayton McKenzie says F1 wants government backing of around R2.3 billion before the country can move further towards securing a place on the calendar.
🎙️ “We are at the stage where you must come up with a guarantee from the government.”
For context, that is roughly:
🔹 R2.3bn total — about R767m per year over a three-year term
🔹 ≈ $139m total — about $46.3m per year
🔹 ≈ €124m total — about €41.3m per year
McKenzie has also named MTN, Betway, Discovery and Canal+ among the private-sector backers, with another major bank still to be announced.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected at the Abu Dhabi GP on December 4, where McKenzie says he will meet F1 officials in furtherance of the bid.
The picture is becoming clearer: South Africa appears to have the political will and growing commercial support, but the guarantees are now where the bid has to become financially real.
