Development is a continuum. Here was Sir Dawda discussing the OMVG project and the Trans-Gambia Bridge, now called the Senegambia Bridge. A reminder that development builds on the vision and groundwork of those who came before us. @BarrowPresident

On behalf of the government and the people of South Africa I congratulate my dear brother and friend, President @LulaOficial and the people of Brazil. This victory will echo beyond the shores of Brazil. It is a victory for the global south and progressive forces throughout the world. We affirm our commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries and working closely together in all multilateral fora to forge a just and better world order underpinned by solidarity and adherence to international law.

The challenge for all of us is to move beyond a nation of blood ties(which is undeniable) to a nation of values and ideas (which can harness our diversity) to make us a people who can build prosperous lives and lasting unity.

With great joy, I congratulate my dear brother President Lula @LulaOficial on his historic fourth presidential election victory and the renewed trust of the Brazilian people. We share a simple but profound conviction. Politics must improve people’s lives, uphold their dignity and bring hope to those too often left behind. That commitment to social justice remains at the heart of our work. I look forward to strengthening the friendship between Barbados and Brazil as we continue building a fairer, more inclusive and peaceful world. May God continue to guide and strengthen you, dear brother. There is much work ahead, and much good still to be done!

A great example of China-Africa cooperation delivering tangible results! By investing in skills, knowledge and technical education, China and Zambia are helping build local capacity and empower the next generation. This is partnership that creates lasting value for Africa.
The China-Zambia College of Vocational Technology — China's first overseas institution offering diploma-level vocational education — has had 9 of its professional teaching standards incorporated into Zambia's national education system, graduating over 2,000 students and training 3,000+ technical staff. A model of China-Africa vocational education cooperation.  #VocationalEducation #ChinaZambia #SkillsDevelopment #FOACA

The Gambia Takes the Helm of the UN Least Developed Countries Group The Gambia has assumed the chairmanship of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Group of Least Developed Countries (LDCs), taking over from Nepal for a three-year term. The Group elected The Gambia by consensus at its plenary meeting on 2 September at United Nations Headquarters in New York, after the African Group of Ambassadors endorsed Banjul’s candidacy. The Gambia formally took the chair at the LDC Ministerial Meeting on 25 September, when Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow received the handover from Nepal. The ceremony was attended by the President of the UN General Assembly, the Deputy Secretary-General, and the Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for LDCs, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States. Jallow thanked member states for their confidence and pledged that The Gambia would serve with dedication, fairness and diligence, working with members and development partners to implement the Doha Programme of Action for the LDCs for the Decade 2022–2031. In New York, Ambassador Lamin B. Dibba, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, will lead the chairmanship, with Counsellor Binta Jeng coordinating negotiations and expert-level work. The LDC Group comprises 44 countries across Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Caribbean, within a wider group of 92 countries in special situations. It is the main platform for coordinating common positions on sustainable development, financing, debt, trade, climate action, technology transfer and productive capacities. As chair, The Gambia will set strategic direction, preserve unity, facilitate consensus and represent the LDCs with the UN system and partners. Priorities include effective delivery of the Doha Programme of Action, stronger accountability for commitments, and support for countries approaching graduation. The Gambia has also taken the LDC chair in Geneva, covering work at UNCTAD and WIPO. Ambassador Prof. Muhammadou M.O. Kah, Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva and LDC coordinator at the WTO, received the role at the Palais des Nations. He said The Gambia assumes the chair at a defining moment and pledged continuity, unity and ambition, keeping development central at UNCTAD and ensuring intellectual property at WIPO supports technology transfer and structural transformation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated the Vice President and Ambassadors Dibba and Kah and pledged continued support.

When Lee Kuan Yew took over, per capita income was about $400 a year; it is now more than $50,000. He inspired his polyglot population to become the intellectual and technical center of the Asia-Pacific. Leadership matters!

I wonder if China needed endless validation workshops to develop? We have them all the time but I don't see the impact.
