Fantilli ultimately adds a year and a touch more AAV for doing so. Seems to be a fair deal based on the way the market has changed.

Sam Steel and the @DallasStars have agreed to a contract extension. Steel has developed into a solid two way forward in the bottom six for Dallas. This season, there is potential opportunity for him to take on an increased role in the top 6! #NHL
Tim Washe and the @AnaheimDucks agreed to a contract extension. A 4th line faceoff specialist, Washe was only projected at 1x$1.5M. The added term and UFA years bought makes the actual $2.25M AAV rather reasonable. #NHL

The final contract of the old #NHL CBA was signed by Luke Evangelista and @NJDevils . 5 years, $7.25M AAV. The two sides wanted to beat the deadline not because of term but rather because of bonus structure, with more than 60% of the contract being paid out in bonuses. This contract is very fair based on our projection that expected one additional year and a slightly higher AAV.
Getting caught up on a few late night signings - @Canes Jordan Staal signed a one year extension with $4.9M guarenteed and another potential $5.1M in signing bonus. The potential total value is in line with our projection but that was expected to be a 2 year contract. Could this structure indicate next year might be his last? There also didn't seem to be a reason that this needed to be signed before the new CBA took effect.

The @Capitals are done for the day, no more signings.
Cutter Gauthier and the @AnaheimDucks have agreed to a contract. While not the 8 year max term, @PierreVLeBrun mentioned earlier that this deal potentially would include a front loaded structure that would not be allowed after tonight. That soft deadline likely helped get this done now! #NHL

On RFA Cutter Gauthier: critical day for both sides to try to close the deal. Still not done. Ducks made new offer on Sunday, which was progress. Both sides meet again later today. But if deal doesn't get done before old CBA expires tonight then there's an issue because of how the front-loaded rules change in the new CBA. And the front-loaded money is an important part of the current discussion.
