Shabbat Shalom to MDA EMT Dispatcher Rinat Ben David, who helped bring three babies into the world during a single night shift at Magen David Adom’s 101 National Emergency Dispatch Center! Rinat calmly guided three families through emergency deliveries over the phone, helping welcome one baby girl in a car on the way to the hospital, another at home in southern Israel and a third baby in Beit Shemesh. “I had the incredible privilege of helping bring three pure, beautiful souls into the world,” Rinat shared. From lifesaving emergencies to life's newest beginnings, MDA dispatchers and first responders are there.

A very Jewish - Israeli goal of mine is to spot a @AFMDA ambulance in Israel that was donated by a family I know in chutz l'aretz and to take a photo to send them and say "you'll never believe what I just saw!"

Magen David Adom teams responded to an explosion on Ramim Ridge in northern Israel today, reportedly caused by a Hezbollah cluster bomb left in the area. A 14-year-old boy was killed and 24 others were injured, including two 14-year-old boys in serious condition, 10 people in moderate condition and 12 with minor injuries. MDA immediately dispatched ambulances, mobile intensive care units, Medicycle responders and helicopters to the scene. Upon arrival, MDA EMTs and paramedics, working alongside military medical teams, began triaging the injured and providing lifesaving care, including bleeding control and resuscitation efforts. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, MDA paramedics pronounced the 14-year-old boy dead at the scene. The 24 injured were evacuated by MDA ambulances and helicopters to three hospitals for further treatment. Our hearts are with the family of the boy who lost his life, and we wish a full and speedy recovery to all those injured.

Before they could even catch their breath, the injured were already there. On October 7 at the Nova Festival, Magen David Adom teams arrived to find soldiers and civilians who desperately needed help. There was no time to prepare. No time to plan. So they did what they always do. They went to work. Driving through active gunfire in bullet-resistant ambulances, they reached the wounded and brought them to safety. Again and again, they pushed forward. In those moments, nothing else mattered. Not fear. Not danger. Only the lives they were there to save. This is what Magen David Adom does. This is who they are.

Together, they revisit the moments that changed their lives forever, sharing firsthand accounts of the people they fought to save, the decisions they faced and the extraordinary efforts to save lives amid the chaos. Part 1 begins today. Join us each week as we share the stories of the MDA heroes who were there when Israel needed them most.

Today, three years after October 7th, a lifesaving encounter comes full circle. MDA paramedic Shahar Edri and senior EMT Alon Greenberg were among the hundreds of MDA teams dispatched south that morning. There, they treated police officer Mati Tzarfati, who was critically wounded while defending the Sderot police station. Under the threat of terrorists and relentless rocket fire, Shahar and Alon fought to keep Mati alive on the way to the hospital. In a moving reunion, Mati thanked the MDA team who helped save his life, while Shahar and Alon honored his courage and journey through recovery. Three years later, we remember the courage of those who fought to save lives on October 7th, and the lives they fought so hard to save. We will never forget! 💙

For hours on October 7th, Magen David Adom teams along the Gaza envelope provided lifesaving care while under fire themselves. With terrorists still moving through the area and evacuation routes unsafe, teams were instructed to provide first aid locally until patients could safely be moved. They kept going, stopping again and again to treat people they encountered along the way. When evacuation finally became possible, MDA and IDF helicopters transported patients for further care. Even amid unimaginable danger, MDA teams continued their lifesaving work, reaching as many people as they could when every second mattered.

Three years after October 7, we remember Amit Mann, 22, a Magen David Adom paramedic whose life was dedicated to helping others. Amit began volunteering with MDA as a teenager, later becoming a paramedic and instructor. She dreamed of studying medicine and continuing to save lives. On October 7, as Hamas terrorists attacked Kibbutz Be’eri, Amit remained in the clinic treating the wounded for hours. Even as terrorists tried to break in, she continued caring for those around her. She was murdered when they stormed the clinic. Today, we remember Amit for her courage, her dedication and the life she dreamed of living. May her memory be a blessing 🕯️

He knew every person in front of him. On October 7th, Bazooka, chief of the Segev Shalom station, was helping identify victims when word came that terrorists were nearby. Everyone rushed inside. Bazooka stood with his weapon drawn toward the entrance as they waited. When the threat was cleared, MDA teams went straight back outside and resumed treating the injured. Just 10 to 15 minutes later, they learned that Bazooka had been struck by rocket fire and killed. Later, he was brought back to the very station where he had stood alongside them that morning. Three years later, the MDA team in Ofakim remembers the people they lost, the lives they fought to save and a day that changed everything.

On October 7th, Magen David Adom volunteer EMT Amichai Shacham left his wife and three young children in their safe room and ran toward the wounded in his home of Kibbutz Alumim. He treated devastating injuries until the medical supplies he carried ran out. Then Amichai himself was shot and badly wounded in both hands. Still, when he saw that a fellow member of the kibbutz was in critical condition, he helped provide the lifesaving care his friend needed before they could be evacuated. Three years later, Amichai is back home in Alumim, and back volunteering with MDA. For Amichai, saving lives has been part of who he is since he first joined MDA as a teenager. On October 7th, even in the darkest moments, that commitment never left him.

The wounded kept coming. The gunfire didn’t stop. And MDA teams kept working. On October 7, Magen David Adom’s Ofakim Station was at the battlefront. Under fire, teams cared for severely wounded patients before transforming the station into an impromptu hospital. More than 30 stretchers were laid out, with medical supplies ready as casualties continued to arrive. Amid the chaos and danger, MDA was there, providing lifesaving care when every second mattered.

They thought they might be kidnapped. They thought they might not make it home. But turning back was never an option. On October 7, Magen David Adom paramedic Anastasia Stelmachov and MDA EMT Nashet Nasser headed south in a bullet-resistant ambulance as rockets fell and gunfire continued around them. Their ambulance was struck by the blast and fragments of a rocket. They entered Sderot again and again, searching for survivors, treating the wounded and evacuating critically injured patients. At one point, with terrorists reported nearby, Anastasia and Nashet talked about what they would do if they were kidnapped. In their minds, they said goodbye to their families. But they kept going. Anastasia and Nashet were among the MDA teams who risked their own lives that day to reach others. We remember their courage. We remember those they fought to save. We remember October 7.
