We're grateful to count the African Education Program among our allies in the mission to unlock the heroic potential of youth and young adults everywhere. 🌍
Supporting mental health means caring for everyone who makes learning and growth possible—children, youth, families, and the staff who walk alongside them.
This #WorldMentalHealth Day, October 10, the African Education Program recognizes mental well-being as an essential part of our holistic approach at our flagship Learning & Leadership Center in Kafue, #Zambia, the Amos Youth Centre (AYC).
Each week, AYC’s Programme Team facilitates mental health classes tailored to children’s ages and needs. Our work also extends to mothers and guardians, creating spaces to share experiences and explore ways to care for their own well-being while supporting their children.
The mental health of our staff matters, too. Their work requires patience, compassion, and energy. Recognizing their needs and supporting their well-being helps sustain both our team and the care they provide.
We are grateful to partners such as @SuperBetter and Foundation for Family and Community Healing for helping us continue to make mental health a priority.
When we care for the people who learn, the families who nurture them, and the educators who guide them, we strengthen the whole community.

Launching the Play-Based Learning Guide & ECE Library on #InternationalPlayDay is a bold affirmation of children’s rights & the power of community partnerships. By protecting play, #Zambia is protecting childhood itself. This is how nations build brighter futures, one child at a time. 🇿🇲
"It is through play that children are able to learn and develop fully." — Ms Patrine Chilala, Directorate of Early Childhood Education, @Medu_Zambia.
This International Day of Play, let's invest in safe play spaces and early childhood services.

Zambia 🇿🇲 has launched its first glucose and starch manufacturing plant by Trade Kings Group in Lusaka’s Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ).
The $110M facility will source 126,000 tons of maize annually from local farmers, strengthening agribusiness and value addition.
The plant is potentially Africa’s third-largest producer after Egypt and South Africa, supporting Zambia’s ongoing industrialization efforts.

We’re thrilled to see @AEProgram expand their reach and start to bring educational access to students in Rwanda! Congratulations AEP!
We are thrilled to share some incredible news with you today. For years, we’ve been asked if the African Education Program (AEP) works only in Zambia. Today, we are excited to officially announce that we are now proudly serving both #Zambia and #Rwanda!
A little over a year and a half ago, our Executive Director, Julie-Anne Savarit-Cosenza, connected with Nathalie Muhoze Furere and Paulin Basinga, the inspiring visionaries behind The Moyo Center in Rwanda. What began as a conversation about possibilities has evolved into a partnership that is not only exciting, but will be truly transformative.
Together, we are committed to advancing #inclusiveeducation for children with #disabilities in Rwanda and across Sub-Saharan Africa. The Moyo Center provides a critical solution to the gap in #autism and #disabilityeducation care, focusing on inclusive education, teacher training, and community support.

In Kenya and Zambia, there is limited access to technology and opportunity for children. In Zambia, many kids only attend school for half the day. Alongside our partners, @AEProgram and @KenyaConnect, we're on a mission to change that.

The African Education Program is excited to announce a partnership with Tablets For Kids, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to getting tablet computers and educational software into the hands of Africa’s youth to advance them into the 21st century. Their mission is to leverage technology to inspire change and improve educational outcomes.
Mwabu and their local Zambian entity, Mwabu Education Zambia, are providing the educational software solution that supports primary school teachers and learners in Africa with appropriate technology to improve learning outcomes, even in the most challenging of rural areas. Mwabu equips teachers and learners with user-friendly tools and resources, including the Mwabu Learn platform, where over 1,000 interactive lessons are translated into local languages, to support effective learning.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward for the Young Learners Program at our flagship Learning & Leadership Center in Kafue, #Zambia, named the Amos Youth Centre, as we aim to broaden our impact and increase educational outcomes for girls and boys. The initial pilot project will target 30 primary learners in grades 5 and 6. These tablets will offer students new learning opportunities and access to a wealth of educational resources.
Thank you, Tablets for Kids, for your generous support and commitment. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future for our kids.
