I had the pleasure of receiving a donation of USD 300,000 from Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), provided through its funding sources.
I conveyed the Government of Sri Lanka’s sincere appreciation to ADPC for the valuable support extended in response to the adverse weather conditions following Cyclone “Ditwah”, including its close collaboration with the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) through the provision of technical and coordination assistance, as and when required.
The Executive Director reaffirmed ADPC’s readiness to work closely with Sri Lanka on national priorities related to recovery efforts and offered continued technical assistance for assessments and planning.
We also discussed the importance of modernizing national early warning and disaster preparedness systems, and ADPC expressed its willingness to extend maximum possible assistance in strengthening these critical national capacities.
Sri Lanka looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with ADPC in enhancing national resilience and disaster risk reduction.

TERI under the Jal Mitra project funded by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (@ADPCnet ) and supported by UP Jal Nigam (Grameen) organized a conference on “ Jal Mitra Project Conference on Ensuring Sustainability of Water Supply Infrastructure and Management” in New Delhi, today.
The conference aims to deliberate on the sustainability of the water supply infrastructure as well as an opportunity to showcase the functionality and benefits of the Jal Mitra App developed by TERI.
In the opening address Mr @janshuman Director, TERI, said, “India faces persistent water challenges, including availability, scarcity, pollution, and inefficient water usage. To address these challenges, a new app was developed to support existing water supply infrastructure.
