Jaffer Sadiq had exported 237 consignments of pseudoephedrine and Ketamine to Australia, NZ and Malaysia from 2014-24, ED alleged in its chargesheet. His alleged laundered drug money was pumped into Pitch n Play, a gaming place in Chennai. There is extensive literature on who inaugurated this firm's business in Chennai. There is no doubt that TVK functionary Boopalan's involvement in one of the biggest drug seizures in recent TN history is shocking. But using this to somehow dilute the Sadiq case is not right, in my view.

PREVENTION: Properly designed, connected and maintained drains that carry rainwater away before roads flood. RESPONSE: Deploying pumps to remove water AFTER roads flood. 4,000 crore was spent by the DMK govt on PREVENTION infrastructure. But water is still being pumped out. So where’s the prevention? TVK govt can take credit for its swift on-ground RESPONSE. Likewise, DMK govt can take credit when its ₹4,000 crore package does what it’s meant for.
