Essential Plan FAQ Topic: How did we get here? *After the November 2024 ballot, the district reviewed those results alongside extensive community feedback, collaborated with staff, and partnered with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission. The result is a pared-down request focused on the district's highest-priority facility needs. Part of that review looked at the cost of doing nothing. Aurora City Schools currently uses around $650,000 annually to address facility issues, prioritized by greatest need. As buildings age and require more maintenance, that amount becomes insufficient. Essential Plan FAQ Topic: Enrollment/Inflation *How do enrollment growth and inflation affect this project? During the 1990s, Aurora grew from approximately 2,000 to 3,000 students in the district. With additional construction and growth in the community, we expect more students to enroll in the district; however, it would not be the same magnitude as in the ‘90s. The project on the ballot allows room for growth in each of the buildings. Inflation guarantees that the project will only become more expensive the longer the project is delayed.
