face scrunches as lips scowl at van's response, almost offended. “ right, 'cause i'd only say somethin' like that to boost your ego. were you really that delusional in high school– ? ” a small handful of popcorn and she tosses it into van's face. »

“ oh, you definitely had your gay awakening before tai. ” she says, reaching into the popcorn bowl. “ especially after listing those top three. dana scully sparked many gay awakenings. ” a chuckle of amusement as she stuffs her face. »

for a while, there was silence between them as they watched. the beginning was always pretty slow, but then of course . . . ❝ ripley in her underwear though. ❞ she's chewing on popcorn when she looks over at van. ❝ what do you think was your gay awakening, or, whatever. »

grabbing the blanket, she lays it out over the both of them and crosses her legs comfortably upon the couch. she'll most likely shift later on but it helps keep the bowl of popcorn in her lap a bit more sturdy so they don't have to reach all the way towards the table. »

“ at least ya got your own place and business. the fuck do i have– ? ” but this isn't meant to be a pity party nor a competition. she's setting out some of the candy and snacks she's brought out onto a tray, something to make it easy for them to share. they won't eat it all, »

“ somethin' like that. ” she sets the bag down on the counter and takes out one of the popcorn packets. “ i don't know, gets borin' in a motel room by yourself for so long. besides . . . ” starts up the microwave and goes to look for a large enough bowl. »

“ you think so— ? ” no such thing, as far as nat was concerned. and she knows van well enough to know she feels the same. “ start the movie, i'll start the popcorn. ” she says as she bursts her way through the front door with ease as if she's been there a thousand times before.
