I don’t get all the hatred toward Columbus. He belonged to his time, invaded, killed, settled, like everybody else. What set him apart was that he imported from Arabs in Spain the concept that the earth was round, went on seeking an alternative route to India than the tumultuous Middle East. Only problem, Arab math calculated the earth’s radius much smaller than it is.
When Columbus was colonizing America the Muslim Turks were burning down Greek Christian Constantinople and turning it into Istanbul. No one remembers that Sultan the Conqueror was an evil abomination in history. Why pick on Columbus?
