@ABHMuseum reopened to the public in February of this year.
It was founded in a storefront in 1988 by Dr. James Cameron, the only known survivor of a lynching. Dr. Cameron spoke with visitors about his experience daily until his passing in 2006. #58Hometowns with @MikeStrehlow

ALT James Cameron (1914-2006) was the victim of a lynching attempt in IN at 16 & is one of the few known survivors. In the 40s, he dedicated his life to civil rights, racial unity, & equality, & created 3 chapters of the NAACP in IN. In the 50s, the emotional toll of threats led Cameron & his family to move to MKE. He continued his activism, which culminated in the opening of ABHM in 88. Photo provided by ABHM.
