Data center moratoriums are popping up across the country. An unfortunate consequence of what I’ve been warning about for some time now: Big Tech forcing its way into communities without transparency about data center trade-offs and working with local populations to ensure that their lives are made better by the presence of data centers, not more expensive.
I’m with the skeptics on these AI data centers. Not because I’m against data centers, but because Big Tech is running roughshod over local communities instead of working with them on the real trade-offs.

According to Grok: "At the end of 2025, there were approximately 580 operational hyperscale data centers in the United States" Why do Americans know so little about them? Certainly there's plenty of real data (versus rumor and hyperbole) available. How hard would it be to compile some facts for the public? Based on what information are governors imposing a moratorium? Or is it just mid term politics?
