The hypocrisy is staggering. Just LAST SEASON LSU had gun incidents on multiple football Saturdays. During the Florida game, police responded to shots fired near the LSU Law Center. On Homecoming vs. South Carolina, a man accidentally shot himself near Tiger Stadium before kickoff. That night, gunfire near near the stadium injured two people. The shooter was later convicted of two counts of attempted second-degree murder. LSU’s own Board chairman said there was an “overall sense of disorder that we have to tamp down.” And everyone already knows the rest of the history... • Tennessee’s buses were hit with thrown objects. Reporting said four windows were cracked. • Urban Meyer says a fan dumped what he believed was urine on him while two cops walked him into the stadium. • AJ McCarron described LSU fans rocking Alabama’s bus and throwing eggs and beer bottles at it. • When Nick Saban returned in 2008, LSU fans burned him in effigy. He had heavy security and roughly a dozen troopers around him by the end of the game. • In 2024 LSU fans threw bottles and debris onto the field against Alabama. SEC fine: $250,000. LSU has spent generations bragging that Death Valley is the “worst place in the world for a visiting team.” Fine. That’s SEC football. But after your governor ordered enhanced gameday security and your school deployed surveillance drones, restricted roads, fenced off tailgating areas and added police because of ACTUAL GUNFIRE on football Saturdays LAST YEAR… spare me the lectures about Oxford adding officers like they do every other weekend.
