Storytime: I was at this event with Steve (I remember this lovely woman) with my friend & her 6 month old baby. After @SteveHiltonx spoke, a middle aged white woman approached us and said she wanted to know more about Steve. She said she was a lifelong Dem who had never voted Republican in her life, but she figured if this Republican walked in with a new mom and a black woman in his crew, maybe he's a little different. Hey, it mattered to her 🤷🏽‍♀️ and the larger point is that Steve creates curiosity amongst non-Republican voters wherever he goes. He truly has been running in the spirit of change, not party designations. I spoke to several Democrats yesterday who say Steve changed their vote after his speech. The energy is real and it's why Becerra can only hide. He has to hope the machine does its job.
