Flashback to @eleanorrofe’s “Maintain the Pitch” graphic from the summer.
Not sure I’ve seen a better explanation of how the SDP sees its role before or since.

When a company says they are taking something that is free and improving it, why does it always mean theyre ignoring public opinion, charging for something was was previously free, and making something worse?
People just want to continue parking up and walkign onto the beach like theyve been able to for years.
Haven already have an unhealthy obsession with CCTV cameras with the volume already in use (and the installation techniques used) making the camp look like Fort Knox and now this previously free car park will be equipped with ANPR cameras to deny us another little pleasure in life.

I remember the outrage it caused among some #GTFC fans when Farage used McMenemys suite at Blundell Park.
Does it really matter though?
Aren’t they just paying to hire a venue?

Eleanor Rofe has my full support.
She has the experience, the ability and the commitment to take the SDP to the next level - and for the good of the country I hope Eleanor's campaign succeeds.
Today, I'm announcing that I'm standing for the leadership of the SDP.
I've said for years that we need people from outside politics to step up, because the political class that put us down here is not going to lift us back up.
If I'm perfectly honest, I always meant "people other than me".
But William Clouston was the first politician who inspired me to join a party. And he's now inspired me to wade into the fray myself.
What he built is unique: a party that puts reality, honesty and the national interest front and centre. My job as leader would be to turn his substance into scale, and reach the millions of Brits who aren't served in the slightest by the current slew of parties.
Watch the video to see my ambition for the party - and our country.

Incredibly excited by Eleanor Rofe's declaration that shes standing for the @SDPhq Leadership
Youthful, but experienced. Measured and articulate. A strategic mind focussed on building on the work already done and bringing the party together under our common goals

Andrew Neil’s Brexit reality check on BBC Question Time.
In a nutshell:
Rejoiners are ignoring the huge political wind of change sweeping Europe and the UK v Germany/ France/ Italy growth rates make a nonsense of their Mickey Mouse economic arguments too.

Why do we allow this?
Why are people who cant even speak our language being courted?
Why are they allowed to vote?

Reform have set this country back a decade or more and may have cost it the chance of meaningful change.
With support already seeing consistent drops from a November 2025 peak, they just don’t seem to know how to avoid the controversies they again find themselves embroiled in.
Serious politicians that defected will surely be looking at the decision they took and questioning themselves. People who placed their votes with them will be asking the same.
Farage must resign if Reform are to recover and be a serious challenger at the next election.

When looking at the wealthiest states in Europe with the best quality of life, they are not ones where the state controls every aspect of people’s lives and the economy, nor ones where it leaves everything to the private sector and fails to invest in its people or infrastructure.
It is the nations that take the best of both: letting companies thrive while investing tax revenues back into the people and infrastructure that help the nation thrive even more.
This is the Social Democratic model, and it is what we believe in. 🇬🇧

A reminder of the @SDPhq long standing housing policy that promises to:
✅ Prioritise British Families
✅ Prioritise Veterans
✅ Build 100,000 social homes a year
For us, our children, and our grandchildren 👇🏻
