Ukraine's deep strike campaign is working.
Denys Shtilierman gives a sensible view on where things stand regarding US and RF demands.
An editorial entitled ‘Zelensky Is Open to a Starlink Deal’ has been published in WSJ Opinion. And I completely disagree with the main message of this piece.
The WSJ is proposing a deal to Ukraine: we would halt strikes on Russian energy infrastructure for 100 days, and in return the US would extend Starlink coverage approximately 300 kilometres into Russia, so that the Ukrainian army could strike missile launchers and drones.
According to the WSJ, this proposal was conveyed to Zelenskyy by Republican Senators Roger Wicker and Kevin Cramer.
The editorial states:
“Ukraine would take a breather from striking Russian energy assets. In exchange the U.S. would expand Ukraine’s Starlink satellite coverage up to roughly 300 kilometers into Russia.”
And further:
“The trade by our lights is worth it.”
In my opinion, no. This is not how relations between allies should look.
Such a deal might at least resemble a fair one if Ukraine were given the full capacity to operate up to 470 kilometres deep into Russia, rather than just 300.
Kharkiv is situated approximately 30 kilometres from the Russian border, Sumy approximately 25–30 kilometres, and Kyiv just over 200 kilometres. Meanwhile, Russia can launch missiles from territory situated considerably further than the proposed 300-kilometre zone.
Therefore, 300 kilometres does not represent parity. It is yet another artificial restriction on Ukraine’s capabilities. A range of up to 470 kilometres would at least have allowed for a significant expansion of the zone within which Russian launchers could not operate with impunity.
First, Starlink and Starshield – which are critically important to the Ukrainian army – are restricted without warning. Such decisions cost Ukrainian lives. Then Ukraine is offered the chance to restore or expand these capabilities in exchange for refraining from strikes on one of the most vulnerable points of the Russian military economy.
This is not a deal. It is blackmail.
At the same time, the WSJ itself acknowledges the obvious:
“Ukraine has every right to raise the pressure on Mr. Putin to stop his conquest.”
This raises a simple question: if Ukraine has this right, why should it have to pay the price of refraining from effective strikes in exchange for the ability to defend itself against Russian missiles?
“But the ability to hit the Russian archer instead of letting the arrows fall is even better.”
But the mere ability to strike at the “archer” must not come at the cost of security guarantees for Russian oil refineries.
Ukraine needs both the ability to destroy Russian launchers and the ability to strike at the infrastructure that sustains the Russian war machine.
For some reason, Russia isn’t making a choice. Why should Ukraine have to choose?
Especially after Trump had already announced some sort of ‘energy truce’ – one that Ukraine and Russia had not, in fact, agreed upon between themselves – whilst Russia continued its strikes.
“A frustrated Mr. Zelensky now says Ukraine will resume targeting Russian energy sites after Mr. Putin ignored Mr. Trump’s announcement last weekend of a “cease-fire” and continued to bomb Ukraine’s energy sites.”
Russia is violating the ‘ceasefire’. Russia continues to strike. Yet once again, Ukraine is being asked to make concessions.
No.
America has been and remains our ally. The American people, Congress, the military and millions of Americans have helped Ukraine throughout the war. That is precisely why, as a matter of principle, I do not wish to equate the United States with the current administration.
Through its recent actions, the current US administration is behaving not as an ally of Ukraine, but as an ally of Russia.
We hope that the American political system will be able to restore relations between the US and Ukraine to a normal alliance model.
Because the normal model is very simple.
Russia is the aggressor.
Ukraine is defending itself.
An ally helps Ukraine defeat the aggressor, rather than haggling with it over the right to defend itself.

‼️IMPORTANT: It is very important to explain the situation the Trump administration has put Ukraine in at this moment:
Ukraine does not have access to Starshield, while Starlink speeds are insufficient for effective use either on the battlefield or for protecting civilians.
On top of that, Washington is demanding that Ukraine stop targeting russian oil refineries.
At the same time, the Pentagon has blocked supplies of Patriot missiles to Ukraine. Secretary @PeteHegseth himself has even blocked the possibility of receiving missiles already purchased by Europeans for Ukraine through the PURL program.
And even that is not all. The U.S. is also blocking other countries from transferring Patriot missiles from their own stockpiles to Ukraine.
These supplies are more than crucial for Ukrainians at this point because the Ukrainian people are enduring the worst russian attacks so far and preparing for even harder times this winter.
And what is this for? Why? For God’s sake, I have no logical explanation for this.
NEW - TRUMP: Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World.
“My decision on Russia is a very simple one. I am in the process of negotiating Peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and don’t want to do anything that will drive, foolishly, Russia away from the bargaining table. Great progress is being made, and that includes current hostage negotiations! Signing that document at this time will do that, and I can sign it later, or any time that I want! Perhaps more importantly, Russia is doing very little, if anything, to help the Islamic Republic of Iran, compared to what they could be doing, and I want to keep it that way, and will, unless stupid people get in the way. Lastly, Zelenskyy is using Diesel Refineries in Russia as a target, knowing that these attacks are seriously hurting the world diesel markets, including those in the United States. Farmers, ranchers, and businesses of all kinds are suffering greatly from this, but Russia is, nevertheless, sending, at a low price, millions of barrels of diesel to the World. Zelenskyy doesn’t care, and frankly, with all of the money that Europe is famously giving him, and that Crooked Joe Biden gave him in the past, he doesn’t want to end this war, and probably never did. He could have made a better deal two years ago than he can now. His country is in shambles, a large portion of his land is lost, his oceans and seas are gone, and his male population is low, wounded, and/or dead. I WANT THIS WAR END! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Six days hanging naked from rebar. Four months standing in human waste until his feet rotted and his heels separated from the bone. Two healthy teeth ripped out without anesthesia. His tendons severed with a knife.
This is what Ukrainian soldier Oleksii Anulia endured during 10 months of russian captivity.
He was beaten unconscious and nearly raped. He watched two fellow prisoners being murdered. Another man was raped for nine days because he had a beard. A female teacher was raped after declaring a hunger strike.
“I asked why. They told me: ‘Because you were born a khokhol.’”
His father went looking for him and helped 46 people escape captivity. The russians captured him in Lukashivka and burned him alive alongside six others inside an Orthodox church.
Oleksii survived. Doctors wanted to amputate his legs. He refused. He wanted to walk again and return to his children.
He wrote Jingle bellZ to document these atrocities for a future tribunal.
“They broke everything that could be broken. They couldn’t break my desire to return to my children.”
This is the reality of russian captivity. The world must know the truth. Every perpetrator must face justice.

This is what those calling for "land for peace" want. Russian occupation means rape, kidnapping, and death. And it doesn’t even mean peace, as Russia would continue its offensive because destroying Ukraine is Putin’s goal.
Those who preach peace through capitulation won't tell you what russian occupation means.
russians occupied Izyum for less than 6m.
After liberation, we found mass graves of 447 ppl. Most of them were civilians — 215 women, 194 men and 5 children. Many bodies had signs of violent death.

Really? Putin is serving Russia’s interests by killing, raping and kidnapping.
Vance: "I've never met Putin in person. I've spoken to him on the phone. He was calmer than you might expect. The American media has a stereotype of him. He's very deliberate and measured in his words.
I think, at his core, he's someone who cares about Russia's interests as he sees them. One reason he respects the President is that he recognizes the President cares about the interests of the American people."

Trump likes Putin. He seems indifferent to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, terrorist attacks against Ukrainian civilians, and the kidnapping of Ukrainians.
I dont like Putin. He is an imperial dictator who cares little about the human lives of either Ukrainians or Russians.

Whose side do you want America to be on?
