Wireless Device Emissions: Inadequate exposure limits for cancer & reproductive risks healthandenvironment.org/che… Date & Time Sep 30, 2026 01:00 PM Description Scientists have raised many health concerns about wireless radiation, also referred to as radiofrequency radiation (RFR). Two major studies – conducted by the US National Toxicology Program (NTP) and by the Ramazzini Institute – have examined health effects of wireless radiation in laboratory animals, focusing on cancer. Both studies found increased cancer incidence in chronically exposed animals. In this webinar, Dr. Ronald Melnick will provide an overview of the assessment of RFR carcinogenicity by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in 2011, address the reasons why the US FDA nominated wireless radiation for study by the NTP, comment on systematic reviews conducted by the World Health Organization, and present critiques by the International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields of national and international exposure limits to RFR. He will then discuss a study that drew upon the NTP data to estimate cancer risk, finding that existing exposure limits are not adequately protective of human health. Based on the studies used in the analysis, current allowable exposures are at least 200 times too high to protect from cancer risk and 24 times too high to protect from reproductive harm. The study used standard EPA procedures to estimate cancer risk, drawing upon the findings of the NTP animal study. Dr. Melnick will provide a brief discussion on quantifying health risks based on experimental animal data.
